Transport of gas
For energy purposes different types of gas have been used almost 200 years of the history of gas industry. A more important position has been achieved only by gas types that have been produced by gasification or degassing of coal, natural gas and fluid gases on the base of propane and butane:
Transport by pipelines
At present, Europe is covered with a dense network of pipelines. They are on the land, but they can be situated also on the sea floor. This way is gas transported e.g. from the gas fields in the North Sea or in Afrika.
Transport by tankers
It is used for the transport by sea for long distances. For example compressed natural gas (CNG, PNG) and condensed gas (LNG) from Algeria, Nigeria or Australia is supplied this way to Europe. Natural gas is compressed or liquified on the coast (by liquifying it reduces its volume about 600 times) and it is transferred to the tanker. In the goal terminal is transferred to storage tank, evaporates gradually and is supplied to the pipeline systems.
